The Singapore Drama Educators Association (SDEA) is a cause and profession driven organisation with a vision that drama is a vital element in the development and transformation of an individual in society. Its mission is to advocate for the educational and artistic value of drama and to advance the profession of the drama educator.

Established in 2002, by artists, arts educators and arts managers, this not-for-profit organisation is run entirely by passionate volunteers from these fields. It is managed by a committee of 9 volunteer members elected on a 2-year cycle. SDEA strives towards raising the bar for the training of drama and arts educators in schools and in the community with events such as Connections, a platform for discussion and reflection on the role of the arts, in particular, drama, within the context of educational institutions, Celebrate Drama! SDEA’s local public event dedicated to sharing the benefits and diversity of drama and theatre education, and the SDEA Theatre Arts Conference, a platform for local and international practitioners and academics to share their experiences, methodologies and research. SDEA also publishes Dramatise! it’s in house annual publication for both practitioners and academics.
