Double Bill Showcase
28, 29 Jul
Venue: DANCE NUCLEUS STUDIO BLOCK M #02-53
- Melyn Chow & Deborah Hoon (SG)
- Lucy-Margaux Marinkovich (NZ)
Melyn Chow and Deborah Hoon, creators and performers of dance and theatre collaborates to explore the subject of stretch marks. Through movement and text, they explore this issue with scarring of the skin that is common for nearly every woman, through weigh gain or loss, or pregnancy.
Created by Lucy-Margaux Marinkovich from New Zealand, and in collaboration with locally-based dancers, Lobsters investigates human relationships through the lens of Surrealist imagery and icons. Unpredictable, raw, tender and absurd, the work exposes how we behave and react to the stimulus that surrounds and envelops us: how we communicate through body, speech and mood, and how this occurs on a deeply subconscious, subliminal level.
Join us at this double bill studio showcase of two interesting collaborations!
Call for Dancers – Lobsters
During Lucy’s residency at Dance Nucleus, she will collaborate with local Singaporean dancers to investigate the themes of Lobsters with a particular focus on generating innovative partnering and duet work, as well as ensemble dance vocabulary. Collaborating dancers will use movement provocations to explore and generate new material, and so dancers need to be creative and playful and interested in choreographic processes. At the end of the residency, Lucy and the dancers will present their material in a studio showcase at Dance Nucleus.
